step by step demonstration for character design

This I would like to more affectionately call a demonstration than a tutorial, as I'm not telling anybody what they should do when they draw, but just explain what I do when I draw, in hopes of helping ^_^.
Anyways, here's the pic for the first step. I have come to deeply believe it is important to be able to sketch out an initail idea fast and simply, THEN refine. I still focus on a single detailed head sometimes in a slump but very rarely do I start a picture this way. That said, on to the pics.

on the last two, let it be noted I don't spend much time on the clothing outlines or folds at all, I draw them both Quickly, again, to capture flow.

Good one. Mostly I just think it's good that it shows that one has to be patient and methodical about one's art.

great job on this nekonei. Very detailed yet simple and easy to understand. It's always good to see how others go about doing there stuff.
The character looks cool too, although his hair is a bit like the dude from a flock of seagulls. lol

no i've never played around with that, unfortunately i had to scan this drawing in at every little turnpoint. i use sketchbooks to draw......

biig thanks on this one..sometimes i draw without or just forgot considering those points esp. like lightsource you have mentioned on your written tut that's why i have diff. working on shades/shadows not to mention folds which is also a pain.

Very Helpful,But I hav a Question To Ask,Did u draw a New Image over and over again,or do u just use a single image and add stuff on it?...Whats a Light Box...And Does SketchBooks Help?

light box shines light throgh a sketch esct.. on paper so you can trace it with another bit layed ontop

Yes, a lightbox is a machine with a milk glass top that shines light through but not directly, so one can trace drawings easily. It's supposed to be easy to make yourself and I've been asking Santa for one since I was eight.
