Alrighty, seeing as to how alot of people wanted to know how I did my new painting technique I finally got around to getting a tutorial up. Now keep in mind this is pretty basic and doesnt cover alot of the advanced processes you can do but this should 'ease' people into the concept which is relatively simple fast and looks pretty darn good.

-Please excuse my horrible spelling/grammer LoL...did this pretty early in the morning....

hmm, I like this. Thanks god you finally put this up!!!!!
I think with this pick the overall opacity on the fill layer should have been a bit lower, but that's just me.
Interesting style here, I like it! Thanks!

Woot Woot! You finnally did this. Its really helpful. I sorta do this, but I didnt use the fill color, I usually just worked on white, I think your way is better. Also that save/load selection thing is cool, I had heard it was possible but didnt really know how. Oh yeah, and i use a crappy lil sunshine to represent my sunshine...that i think is much cooler than your way :D. Awesome tut Kaen, and gongrats to your hyena friend, cus in teaching you, he has taught us all!!

Nice work Kaen.

Just a tip: I'm usually pretty lazy with selecting things b/c its so time consuming w/ complex shapes. If you make a new layer and do what you want with it, then erase out what you don't want with a hard edged brush, it gives a similar effect. Your way is more clean however :].

Nice work Kaen! How though did you get such nicely blended shading on the face in the third screen shot? I use the technique miss wiggle showed in her tut and i am not sure if the same effect can be reached with that.

Wow, really helpful for newbies like myself, but I do have one question:

1) How do you do the overlaying shadow/highlight effects bit to finish it off?

I'm a total noob, so any help you can give is much appreciated Kaen, and again, great tutorial!

At the final stage its all just pretty much painting with a low opacity brush with either multiply or screen (usually). Or you can cheat and use dodge/burn tool for similar effect, just be careful to not overdo it.

This technique is basically meant as an easy way to wedge yourself into digital painting.
