Drawing Basic Feet PART II =]

Ive noticed a lot of people ignoring or in most cases leaving out the feet. How could anyone leave out such a beautiful and expressive part of the body such as feet? Oh the plethora of beautiful planes and emotions conveyed by the...AHEM..;)

But seriously, we need to do something to teach the new art students about the basic drawing of feet so that they can easily apply these teachings to their art. I think the thing that intimidates them is the foot, like the hand is a smorgasbord of muscles, tendons and digits which can look frightening to a beginner. But fear not, I will try to explain the simplicity within the feet =].

Im actually planning part three which will be about the anatomy of the feet and the way the different parts fit (using the 1 2 and 3 parts). And about planes.

do you mean the feet are lacking proportion or different type of feet? I mean you didn't specify what proportions you use when drawing your characters. For example, some people draw their characters seven heads tall. I draw mine eight heads tall. That means if you use different proportions than me your tutorial might not work with my style of drawing (basically the feet won't be the right size).

I would mention in the next part what proportions you use for your characters and add proportions for the feet for example: how does the ankle measure compared to the rest of the foot? how wide is the foot compared to the body? how long is the foot compared to the body?

Ooh, well, I going for the realistic approach, studying from life, which is the best way to learn if youre a beginner. When you have that under your belt you can go ahead and distort the proportions any way you want.
