I was just thinking about, I've bought my fair share of Anime's on dvd. A good part of them has in common that they almost utterly lack extra material or something like that, that would really justify buying the series.

So I though it could be interesting to hear what DVD's are the best buy you've ever made in terms of it being a good series, extra material and generally if you think it was worth your money.

And since I'm the one to start this thread, I should propably be the first to tell my "best buy". It's actually a somewhat recent buy. I bought the whole"Scryed" (or S-Cry-Ed as it is actually called) series in a complete box set.
Apart from being pleasantly surprised by a cool free keyring, of which I had no previous knowledge and the interesting look of the box itself, it also proved to hold the best collection of extra's I've ever seen.
There was char and probs sketches, character videos (basically just the intro music with a collection of best scenes with the char in question), trailers, tv promos, story background, and two new things that I've never seen before. One of them is a run through different poster art made for the series while some of the voiceactors play out a hillarious scene in the background soundtrack which has nothing to do with the pictures.
The second is sort of like a commercial for the Scryed manga. A scene from the manga is played out on the screed, each frame being pulled in one at a time in different fashions (fading, sliding, instant coverup etc) and the voiceactor for the char in the frame says the content of the speechbuble. Really interesting to look at (and listen to) and must be the most innovative piece of extra material I've seen so far. And for each of the dvd's a new piece is available from all the groups mentiones (char video's, manga soundrama etc.) I can only say that this must be the best buy I've ever made, no the least because I think it's a great series as well.

I'm sorry if this all came out sort of like a review of the dvd's :D

So, what is the best DVD' buy you guys ever made?

Hmm a tough question.

Material wise including extras I'd say Cowboy Bebop the movie was pretty damn good and gave info on the voice actors and all, very interesting stuff.

But Ghost in the Shell:STA volumes 1-3 I'm the happiest to have so far. I just love watching it and the music is great too. Although the menu isn't the most fantastic thing I've ever seen the Intro animation and music was super awesome and even better was the ending song. Animation is pretty good and the 3D animation is impressive.

I'm watching Scryed on Adult Swim on Demand, such a cool show.

Sailor Stars.

Even though it's kind of funny looking on the box (The Sailor Stars dont wear makeup!), and the subtitles can be questionable and sometimes don't show up at all, it is the best dvd set I ever bought. Much better than the other seasons of SM.
