Last Exile

Has anyone else seen this series? I've watch 6 of the 7 volumes and it's probably my favorite series next to eva. I hear that this anime comes on techtv but I'm not sure, i just watch the DVDs. I like the show's serious vibe, and it's action packed but refreshingly non violent with no nudity and mild swearing. The art work is some of today's best and the blend of cell shading and 3D background works great. It's starts a little slow but it's definitely worth checking out.

Yeah, I've seen it on G4TechTv's Anime Unleashed program, it's a great show. It was taken off the air for a couple months then it was currently put back on due to new episodes about to be shown so they started the series from the beginning.

I think you have to have Digital Cable or better in order to recieve the channel. Where I live it is being aired every week day and maybe during the weekends from 9 to 10 pm. The good news is that starting tomorrow (Monday) Anime Unleashed will start airing new episodes of Last Exile, from where it left off a few months ago up to the episode where the 2 flying ships are involved in a big battle and the Sylvana is shown being shot down and I think Claus and Tatiana crashland in a desert and try to find the Sylvana.

Yeah, the artwork is really good and there's several funny moments and the opening theme song, Cloud Age Symphony is a pretty good.

Does anyone know what exactly the " Exile" is? I'm still not understanding what it is when they say it is some kind of "gateway" or something.

This is my favorite series that combines computer animation and standard animation constantly. They blend them really well, unlike some anime where the computer animation is overwhelming.

This has got to be one of my favourite series...the ending is a little obscure to me but that my be because i saw it subtitled, im currently waiting for the last dvd (comes out jan).

Hiltz, I'm not absolutely sure about this, but it would seem that "exile" is that monstrous craft that's been floating around inside The Grand stream.
What the specifik purpose of this craft is, how it came to that place and who made it in the first place, is not revealed, but it has the ability to turn the world back into a lush place and it leads me to think it could be some sort of colony ship that the humans of that world one arrived in that world with.

I'm in heaven since i'm getting the complete box set for Christmas... I started watching the series on Tech TV and it took me until episode 14 to really realize how genious it is. I enjoy the refreshing originality in design and presentation, and the show has some really excellent character development. The opening is also one of the most fitting i've ever seen from any anime and sets the mood and atmosphere of the show from the first beat. Excellent stuff, and although there are basic errors in the animation, the overall blend of CG makes something I love watching (and normally, i HATE CG). After all, it is from Gonzo, and if there's one studio that can pull something great from something seemingly simple, it's them. (blue sub 6, Gadgard, vandread, gatekeepers, petite princess yucie, ect)
I can't wait to see the rest of Exile.

I almost died... After watching the entire box set marathon-style (and these are some damn nice DVDs, i'm quite happy with them... except for the one that was scratched ><) I was eagerly waiting to see how it would all be resolved.... And the last DVD's missing!! I don't think it's released yet, since the box set came without any damages or anything... But still... My little heart...
The expectation's going to kill me. It gets really heated towards the end.
