OK, I remember making this before, and it was deleted because the ImageShack links I was using for demonstrations were expired.

The image dimensions are 768 x 7466, so it goes without saying that the file is somewhat...large. I think it's like, 2.4Mb or so, jpg format. Just a heads up for anyone still trapped under that accursed dial-up.
Anyway, I've posted this before, but I still would like to know what everyone thinks. Any improvements that could be suggested, or alternate ways of achieving these effects, are always welcome. I'm especially interested if someone can pull this effect off with a mouse.
