this should go in anime/manga discussion maybe? actually i'm not sure. anime/manga might only apply to japanese stuff. maybe i'll try to get a general cartoons/comics forum opened.

anyway, i like Lobo. he had his own series, right?

Top Ten, by Allan Moore. It's really awesome, the characters are so real.

I also really liked Jaguar God while it was being made, I don't think it's made any more and it olny had like 12 issues (or something).

If this applies to all comics, then here is a list of my favorites.

I personally enjoyed "The New Teen Titans", "Deathstroke", "Beatiful Gal Soldier SailorMoon'', "Nightwing", and, of course, "wolverine"

Sandman. Followed closely by Alan Moore's Swamp Thing, Top 10 and Watchmen (damn that talented bastard) and then Preacher.

YES!
Actually, I haven't read Sandman (meaning to start) or Top Ten, but the others I know are awesome. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is great too (not the movie).

I also like:
Y the Last Man
Supreme Power
The Walking Dead
Invincible
Alias (not based on the tv show...)
and some others

I read a ton, but those are some of my favorites right now.

Y: The Last Man, byfar, is my favorite.

Here's the description on the back of the first TPB (I bought the first two TPBs and then started collecting the actual issues):

In the summer of 2002, a plague of unknown origin destroyed every last sperm, fetus, and fully developed mammal with a Y chromosome -- with the apparent exception of one young man and his male pet. This "gendercide" instantaneously exterminated 48% of the global population, or approximately 2.9 billion men.

Now, aided by the mysterious Agent 355, the last human male Yorick Brown must contend with dangerous extremists, a hoped-for reunion with a girlfriend on the other side of the globe, and the search for exactly why he's the only man to survive.

I recommend this to everyone I can find. Brian Vaughan is the GOD of issue-end cliffhangers and unbelievable one liners. He knows how to keep the story interesting, thought-provoking, and darkly humorous, and it's a very satisfying read. This series fails to dissappoint.

I should write reviews...hehe.

Alias was also awesome, and Invincible seemed promising, but I haven't read enough of it.

While I'm at it I should recomend Blankets.

It is one of the best comic works I have ever seen. Provided you can read a book with no superheros or violence.

The Dark Knight Returns
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Akira
those random short works by Neil Gaiman (Harlequins Valentine was one of them, i think)

e.p.

Harlequins Valentine?

I haven't even heard of that one . . .

This merits investigation!

I loved reading Battle Angel Alita and the Last Order series. As for comics from my American homeland I'd say Claremont's stuff in Xmen when Jim Lee was penciling. That stuff is what made me love comics.

There's a book you can buy in any normal comic store that teaches you to draw like stan, he was one of the authors.

STAN LEE IS A WRITER!

Damn... just because he helped WRITE the book doesn't mean he created the lessons teaching you to draw. The book is called something like "How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way," not "How to Draw Comics Like a Writer Who's Never Drawn a Comic in His Life."

I thought this was the same thread that someone listed him as one of their favorite artists, so I thought I was repeating myself. My mistake.
