First off, welcome to the forum desade!

Do you mean other artist member's artwork posted here being copied by another artist member and the original artist not being given credit?

It's always a risk and the internet is vast yet this is genraly a good community. If you're real worried, you could just slap a big ugly watermark on your pic.

lolz, but yer, im not dat good, and im very new. The art i want to display isnt even inked!!!! But its my first crack at designing my own character and my 10th crack at writing a story.....
So i want it to be my own thing, not have some nameless person copy it (ps, i copyrighted the pic, but all you have to do is alter the gas mask and you're free from prosecution)

Concerning the link to the site, you might want to send a private message to one of the Mods since you may need permission to. I'm not sure how it works regarding posting your own link unless it goes directly to your own website that displayes your artwork.

ummm, how would i go about getting people to realise its my first drawing in a while, its a draft!!!! But to me, its not the art that matters, its more the story.....

You can just simply say that, "It is my first drawing in a while" or that it is concept art.

The members here as you may have noticed are nice people who don't say stuff to offend another artist's artwork in a unappropriate matter like "your art sucks" or something like that.

Whatever matters to you is imporant then. Be it the story or the art it's whatever you like doing the most and you can even post your story in the Writer's section if you'd like to.

Also masahiro from my sig is the main character in my story, but dats like my own stuff. Also you sorta have to know the characters and their relationship to find it funny.....

Not to scare you, but I'm one of the established freaks among the several other freakish polykarbon members. :D

It's getting late so I'm off to sleep but I really hope you have a good experience here at the forum. Everyone from the members to the Mods are all friendly and interesting people who can offer artistic advice, crits, comments, as well as other ways to improve on anything that is basically art related or you can just hang out in the member lounge. - Good night

But, i think its ready to make its debut (p.s im an accomplished story writer in australia)

That's not true, as far as I know.

umm, ya it is because copyrighting covers everything very close, but not anything dramatic. Like if i got goku from dbz, changed his hair and eyes, and possibly clothes, they cant really sue me.

Oh i just posted a basic idea of my story in the writers section, look for it please!!!

I'll take a look at your story.

The question is why would an artist want to(an example) modify an existed original copyright character to make it there own? Having your own original character I would think is far more satisfying. I mean your free to draw whatever you want but when it comes to drawing someone else's character then the original artist derserves credit despite the copying artist making noticable or unnoticable modifications to the character.

they could sue you. but they probably wouldn't, because you're not making money off of it. also, drawing an established character is called 'fan-art' and is quite common. but drawing somebody else's character and changing a couple of details and saying it's somebody else is just called 'laziness' ;)

oh, and there shouldn't be any problem linking to PK - Paddy even provides link buttons here (http://www.polykarbon.com/DOWNLOAD/index.htm)

u sure ur not making too big a deal out of this? i mean artists of all different levels of skill and age post their stuff here, and everything from the super crappy to the absolutely incredible, but we're all here to give positive input and just have fun. i really don't think u'll have any problems with people stealing ur stuff...it just isn't worth it to most people here, and even if they did they'd be so hounded we'd never see the end of it. ^-^
