Had a quick question regarding this company (they license various anime shows like DBZ, Full Metal Alchemis, Fruits Basket, etc.) and figured an anime board would be a good place to ask.
So anyone here have any positive or negative feedback about this company? Ex-employees? Current employees?

Honestly, I have no knowledge about FUNimation besides the fact that they host some animes. The company name sounds child friendly, but it's a bit funny at the end of a show when I hear "FUNimationnnnnn" *ding* (aw how pleasent) after seeing occasional blood and gore on Full Metal alchemist.

Other anime FUNimation has been involved in.
Blue Gender
DBGT (bad move FUNimation)
Lupin III
Yu Yu Hakusho
Tenchi Muyo! XGP
Yugioh!
Shaman King
Ultimate Muscle (not surprising that this show is off the air)
Detective Conan
Kirby Right back at Ya
They have a fair share of good and bad things they've done but most of the DBZ movies are just down right horrible.
FMA only has a few bloody scenes like when Edward Elric loses his limbs and there's another bloody scene shown near the end of the series.

Shaman King was done by 4Kids as far as I know. Because they changed all the characters names and ruined it like Escaflowne.
FUNimation is a good company with extremely talented voice actors who don't mangle their roles, as the writers don't mangle the translation. I <3 all the animes they've brought over and subbed so far.

Some of the shows I mentioned FUNimation only took little part in but were involved in it one way or another.

Thanks for the info. I've asked around on other forums and so far haven't heard anything bad. Guess that's a good thing hehe.

I'll admit they have a stigma because of DBZ. A lot of elitest "otakus" think because they became big for that, they are only a kiddy company who censors everything. - -

Back in the heyday of PlanetNamek.com (anyone frequent those forums back then?) and those forums (where I got my start as SSJ3 Goku647) the elite there HATED DBZ and could not stand it especially once the switch to the in house FUNimation talent (as opposed to Ocean Group). Personally I never had a problem with it, Sean Schemmel who did Goku got a LOT better as the show went on (during the Frieza saga his nazaly screams were amazingly bad) and Vegeta's actor (Chris Sabat?) rocked.
DBZ did make the company, but it's not like that's cheap or anything. You can never really gauge the success of something until it succeeds (WHAT?!).
I dunno. I give two thumbs up to FUNimation as it has definately matured into a respectable company. Now if only they changed the ending animation for their logo.... Looks like it was made for one of those shitty lawfirm ads on late at night.... Yikes.

Wait . . .
You guys consider this a GOOD track record?
I've heard Lupin III is good, but even if I assume that Blue Gender and Shamen King are amasing, they still have made a huge pile more shit then decent TV.

I don't think hating a crappy dub makes people "elite". The dub sucks...why shouldn't people have been unhappy with it?

FF: Which animes do you think they did a sucky job on?
Frank: Because not everyone shares your opinion. As for the elitests, I'm talking about people who actually consider DBZ not an anime at all, along with other good shows because of one reason or another. The kind that believes the only good animes are obscure goffy titles or soap operas.
