The new chapter of Alpha Shade has started. New characters, new world... it starts off with Laura being part of a college Women's Gymnastics team before a meet.

One of the major differences between this chapter and last is how we draw the hair. Instead of using black outlines we're going for a softer look, using slightly darker hair color for outlines.

If anyone's going to Anime Central in Chicago next weekend, stop by our booth and say HI. The same goes for Dallas at A-kon in June. :)

Great work, the new chapter of Alpha Shade rocks!

The further you read the more you want to see what happens next. The new characters seem so down- to- earth and their personalities are very much believable.

I think the method and hairstyles used for Laura looks fantastic and Nicole's is also good.

Too bad I'm a Californian stay-at- home resident but good luck at those anime conventions. The artistic talent and all the other aspects from the work you and your associates accomplished in this chapter or rather on Alpha Shade altogether deserves to be recognized on a bigger scale. :)

Hiltz pretty much summed up what I wanted to say, except for the Californian thing. Good luck with the convention ;]

Yeah, Alpha-shade is a really nice comic. Too bad there aren't more like it out there. You two are truly people that think things through before you do something.

dude ya Alpha-Sade kicks ass!
I really like it, it's easy to follow and to read.
I love smoothest color applied :)

I have questions for you :

i'm just wonderring if that anime style cartoon is really working in the States??
Let's say if you can compare to those big name like Marvel and DC Comics??

Anime and Manga is a billion dollar a year business over here and growing every year. While M and DC are still in comic book shops, the anime and manga stuff is in main stream book stores like Barns and Noble.

Wow, did you draw/colour all those yourself? How hard is it to get an idea in your mind, then arrange it properly in comic frames?
That's awsome, consistency is amazing.

I do the storyboards and frame layouts, then my brother does the finished art. This gives me more time to mess with the layouts before he get to draw them out.

I think the center panel turned out well in page 94. The light effects are kind of neat.

I like the way some of the expressions turned out on page 95. This is the last page of this mini scene.
