Guys like lesbians so it's only fair girls can like gay guys.

I know alot of grls who would greatly disagree with that.

I personally dispise yaoi somewhat more than lesbian stuff (girl+girl=um...huh?) but I can only theorize that grls that like looking at it, like looking at it because the male characters (usually at least one of them are as described) are drawn extremely feminine or super god-like gorgeous. In other words, most of the time, the male characters are meant to look extremely partial towards what grls like to see (guys with slanty artistic eyes and wavy perfect anime hair, etc. etc.)

Also, during normal hentai, the emphasis is (thankfully) placed onto the female involved in the act, with maybe two or half a cell devoted to the male taking part in the act. I wouldn't be too surprised if thats what turns some females away from it.

Like I said...I can't really understand it myself...but that might have something to do with it.

sorry but...I honestly don't feel that the girls who enjoy reading yaoi are considering all the ramifications of a homosexual lifestyle in a conservative world when they're reading a yaoi manga...just opinion but...

and...thats what the topics about...thats probably why our views may appear somewhat jaded, we're strictly trying to understand what a girl could enjoy in watching/reading about two men only having sex for 90% of the manga pages. I've only glanced through several yaoi mangas before realizing where they were going...but they've never had a storyline: the guys meet, and somehow turn on to each other and go at it till the end of the comic...

um...I'm sorry but, I really think most (I'm sure there must be actual mangas with epic storylines featuring yaoi out there, but I've 'never' seen one to this day, sorry) yaoi was NOT intended to incite mindful reflection about the troubles the homosexuals featured in the mangas might be facing in their society.

First of all, as u clearly mentioned but seemed to completely forget we are ONLY TALKING ABOUT PORN. The point of this topic would be the same as asking "why do guys like watching (straight) porn?" or "why do guys like watching lesbian porn?". we're just trying to understand what girls see in yaoi, as if what guys would see in reading hentai.

I personally don't have anything against homosexuals. I don't like looking at them during graphic public displays of affection, but at the same time I don't like looking at a man and woman going at it in public either, but I would never stop people from enjoying themselves, I would just look away, simple situation. I also dispise the persecution of others for unjust reasons.

You can't just make assumptions like that based on the subject matter we're discussing...

I honestly don't want to hear or read about anyone's sex life no matter what their sexual preference is either in a comic book or in reality. I have no problem with gay porn existing but I DO have a personal problem and get freaked out if I were to come across and incidently view specifically gay porn material in any shape or form because it isn't of my personal taste or interest.

I honestly do get grossed out if I were to view yaoi but that's just how I feel. I do accept gay people and what they do in the bedroom is of their own personal business and if they want to tell the world in graphic detail about it that is also fine as long as it isn't forced upon me to read,hear, or view it. As far as yaoi goes I don't read it but I accept that it can freely exist and whoever likes it can do whatever the hell they want with it.

Accidents can happen and in my case it has.

I was at a book store like two years ago in Santa Monica with my family and grandpa and I picked up a book that I mistook for something else but it turned out to be yaoi. Why did I pick it up?

The cover of the book deceived me since it didn't give me any direct or obvious clues tht it was yaoi but I was interested at the art style of the characters I didn't even know what yaoi meant back then until I opened it and quickly realized it involved forms of gay sexual activities and so I simply put it back onto the book shelf and walked away.

Uh huh. Except in terms of reaction you're (at most) apathetic about hearing/reading about heterosexual lifestyles, and then downright appalled/repulsed by homosexual lifestyles.

Yeah, I don't look at hetero porn very much (unless I have nothing better), but never yaoi or gays. That's because I'm straight and that's just not what I'm into, it's my personal perference - I don't like seeing some sweating dude gettin' it on with the chick in the porn. I prefere two or more girls... But that does not mean I condone homosexuality - pornography is just fantasy. I look at yuri(girl/girl hentai/ecchi) and lesbian porn so I see no reason why a girl shouldn't have the option of looking at yaoi and gay porn.
I don't even see a reason for this topic - except that the person in question is 13, that's a little young, but I've been looking at porn since I was 11/12 or so, so I can't throw stones.
It's all about choice, and if you choose too look at one type/genre of porn that's your business - no one elses... That comment I made was related to all forms of sexual preference, not just homosexuals.

I have a gay cousin who from the first day I met have accepted him for who he is. I don't give a damn what he does in his sex life because that's his personal business that I prefer to not hear or read about. In addition, I don't give a damn what my parents do in their bedroom because I feel that it is their personal business and it would most definetly not interest me to find out what they do behind close doors. It's something I don't need to know or have the desire to read or hear about anywhere at any given time.

Yes, I feel that hearing about someone else's sex life is gross because it tends to create a disturbing image of them having intercourse in my mind and in that moment I wish I had a gun to shoot myself in the head just so I would be able to rid myself of such graphic images. As for yaoi, what better way to create the disturbing images in my head when they are infact a reality literally drawn on paper! I'm not into hentai or any other form of drawn or animated perverted cartoon porn gay or otherwise.

And generally all the adult material is placed together, and also sorted according to content, like all the other categories are..

1. Wouldn't really know.. I guess it's the overly cute looks that is in most of the yaoi (I've seen), that girls would find appealing. I know that's what fools me to look at it on DevArt.. I never said you should be into gay porn. It's completely normal for you to be grossed out by looking at gay porn if you're not gay. I just don't see why you would be so freaked out by it's very existence that someone would have to complain about it(not saying you were). If you find something to be distasteful, don't look for it. Yeah, accidents happen, but other than the rare instance that you find a misplaced book, are you just stumbling upon gay porn all the time?

I really, really don't see how Yaoi is any different than any other porn. Most guys don't seem to have a problem veiwing lesbians- and they usually want them to be physically attractive. So a lot of girls find feminine guys physically attractive. It doesn't make them bi-curious, it's just a preference.

But whatever, it's not like there isn't anything that grosses me out too.

the brain is pleased by images intended to affect the portion of the brain that responds to sexual images. Does't matter what form it takes, if it reminds us of what we like to see (we'll say, porn, for example) then we'll get turned on.

Hentai and video porn with live people are one and the same. They're both not real, one just takes a different form of representation.

Both produce the desired effect.
