Well the topic is as the name suggest. What is your fav 2d and 3d fighting game?

Personally:

3d- Dead or Alive ultimate: No its not anywhere the deepest of 3d fighters but it really has so much polish that its amazingly fun and addictive to play (and has great bounce physics lol) The main factor in my choice for this is online play really. Definately the only thing it edged out soul caliber 2 on really.

2d- Have to say guilty gear in most all its incarnations. Its just so damn slick with some truly crazy/cool character designs and fighting styles.

For 3D I'd go Soul Calibur 2. That game just rocks so hard.

For 2D I'd have to go for Guilty Gear as well. The pure variety of original chars in it makes it a game to be remembered. Doesn't hurt that it's funny as hell to play too :)

I don't normally play fighting games though, I feel so deprived...:tear:

..not.

I'll let you pick a Tekken. Doesn't matter which one cuase they all kick ass. Uhhh, that is with the execption of 4. Yes, so pick any Tekken except Tekken 4. :)

Tekken Tag was personally my fav.

2D - Either of the Capcom Vrs. SNK series.

3d Soul Calibur 2 definetly.

2d, SSBM kicks every other 2d fighting games ass. If you think otherwise you're wrong.

2D: MvC2, CvSNK 2, SF3 and SFA3 all kick SSBM's ass!

I'm not really into 3D fighters, but the soul series is great. Def Jam Fight fo NY is pretty goodtoo, though that's more of a wrestling game.

3D: Dead or Alive 2 - Only Fightin' game I was allowed to buy.

2D: Guilty gear XX - Tons of Japanese Drag queens can help but make me laugh.

Yet again, I used to have difficulty convincing people Maleikeo (Keo, Kat) was a dude. So I drew a bright green beard on him.

You can see bridget has man arms, but nothin' else convinces me he's a dude.

you know what's great? when playing marvel vs capcom 2 with at least three people, you can make it more interesting. this is what you do. there's 2 people fighting, so the other one not in the match picks a theme of characters for the 2 fighters to pick.

for ex: guy number 3 is not playing. so he says something like, pick all...characters with a gun. Then the 2 fighters will have to scramble to pick the best of that catagorie, having no duplicates of characters ( if someone picks jill first, then there will be no more jill picking.

It makes the game so much fun, with all the different catagories you can pick. pick all monsters...all characters with tights...giants...people with 3 bar consuming special. you should try it.

2D: Hyper Street fighter too (I'm with Aisuru!) or SF3

3D: Soul Calibur, Tekken series

What ever happened the fighting games? they were all the rage during the 90s, but seemed to have died out to some degree. I'll never forget the good old days when 4 Super Street Fighter 2 machines were linked up and half the arcade was packed full of spectators for that one game!

3D - Soul Calibur 2

I never had as much playing with weapons

Super Smash Brothers - Melee (only if played with other people)

The first one was good but the sequel was bigger and better.

2D - Marvel vs. Capcom 2

Fast-paced, explosive action, and some of the coolest flashy special moves around

dont really like 2d ones although i loved the simplicity of street fighter for snes (may not have been original one could have been 2 or 3 i really dont know much about street fighter)

3D one DOA 4. Do any of you remember Project Justice. I liked that one alot too. 2nd favorite would be that one.

3D: Rival Schools

Possisbly the most japanese fighting game I've ever played. Fantastic. I only played a demo though, absolutely amazing, I played for days against my brother, never got around to picking up a copy of it though.

The dude with the baseball bat! OUCH! Every time he'd hit someone ya' just cringe!

G.A.S.P.!! That game owns so much because you can make your own character in a sort of traditional manga anime themed 3d beat m up like tekken or something. Okay sure it sucks monkey balls as far as everything else goes, but that feature alone makes it more awesome than any other 3d beat m up for me.

as for 2D... maybe that internet thing, m.u.g.e.n. with ripped sprites from games. That was pretty cool, and undergroundly.

3D: I guess I have to go with Soul Calibur 2 as well even though I haven't really played it all that much. I played and enjoyed Soul Calibur 1 on DC but I can tell Soul Calibur 2 is a slight improvement.

2D: Garou: Mark of the Wolves by SNK is an amazing game. It's sorta like a sequel to the Fatal Fury series. It's actually a bit like the Soul Calibur games in that it's immediately accessible and fun for beginners but very very hard to master. I'm really hoping for Garou: MotW 2.

3D- Dead or Alive Ultimate 2.... its so much fun, and there are so many combos that you can make up.... not to mention the changing environment( like when you knock someone through a Board-barrior thing it takes you to another place). Budokai can take some tips from these guys cuz, Budokai may have come up with the idea, but DOAU2 owns at it.(oh sh*t...... if only Soul Caliber could have this, it would dominate Fighting games...)

2D- I would say the Guilty Gear series, Darkstalkers Chronicles, or Street Fighter games.

Do any of you remember Project Justice. I liked that one alot too. 2nd favorite would be that one. Yeah, it was the sequel to Rival Schools. Rival schools was awesome. Haven't play Project Justice.

Favorite games are Hyper Street Fighter II Turbo, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Rival Schools, Soul Calibur II, and Super Smash Bros.

I think that if you have a gamecube, then it's standard to have smash.

3D - Virtua Fighter in all of its incarnations. People will tell you Tekken is better, but they're just fooling themselves.

2D - Guilty Gear X-2 or Street Fighter 3

I have to admit for over all variety super smash bros just lays waste. As for old school 2d mortal kombat 3 touches a special place with me for its pure brutality. Was awesome just running to the center of the screen and just pounding on each other lol. Though there are so many old school fights, killer instinct anyone? Definately hard to decide on any sole one.

if we're talking about tournament style fighting then 2d was mortal combat 3 and 3d SSBM.

If we're talking about games that rely on fighting but aren't in tournament style Maximum Carnage is my favorite 2d fighting game.

Accually its a sidescroller, i meant as in 3d graphics, i do believe that was what Kino originally meant.

And yes, it is standard but still its the best.

Both super smash bros. were good, those challenges on melee were fun to do... the only reason why i beat those 2 master hands was that they didnt move at all for some reason :) and for 3d... maybe virtua fighter 2 for sega saturn, and soul calibre 2 on GC.
