I have completed the second one about 3-4 times and im still not bored of it. I did the first one one and a half times.
The third one is good but its lacking something. Im just not geting the same feel.
It dosent have the radar system, you cant hold up the guards. The grabbing them from behind is way harder.
Im only at the sniper guy. Im finding it like most other RPG's. Does it change later on in the game? Am i doing something wrong?

I haven't played it in a while, cuz I borrowed it from a mate, but I'm pretty sure you can hold up guards. Grabbing 'em takes practice, but it's easy once you get used to it.
It's worth getting through the game just to face The Boss, I love that battle. The End is a really cool battle as well, the first time it took me more than an hour to beat him, then I found out you don't even have to fight him.

Im ging to get through it
I mastered all that stuff in the other games. The playabiloty is different.
grabbing them is easy, just use the DPAD instead of the analog stick. It took me awhile to figure out that part, I kept wondering why the hell they would always hear me when moving as slowly as possible with the analog. And yes you can hold up the guards, its a lot more advanced than mgs2 as well since now you hold them up while they are standing and move around while he automatically keeps the gun pointed in their direction, you can also knock them down and hold them up (shooting the ground near their head causes them to give up items)

Cool, i will give that a try.
At the start it asks wether ir not you like MSG1 or 2 better. What difference does this make?

Yeah, I remember playing the demo, I took me fcukin' ages to get used to the gameplay, and the beginning was dead hard, which didn't help. It's also way more difficult to get rid of guards once they're alerted.
Oh ya, if you need it here's a tip for beating the sniper dude, save once the battle starts, then set the internal clock of your PS2 forward by a week or so, then reload. The End will have died of old age. You can then set back the time once the battle's over.
It just affects the openning when hes on the plane
mgs1: I think snake has no beard on the plane like in mgs1 (or maybe he has no beard through the entire "virtuous mission" part of the game)
mgs2: Snake wears the raiden mask on the plane, then takes it off in a cutscene after he lands. The colonel says something like "snake, youre on the ground now, you dont need that disguise anymore" then snake says something like "good, something about this mask just doesnt feel right"
"first time playing": Regular mgs3 snake on the plane

How do i change the clock in the PS2?

Just go into the settings when you turn on the PS2 without a CD in it methinks.

The End is funny :
1 : He only has one more week to live (( yay internal clock cheat ))
2 : He sits in a wheelchair at one point and you can shoot it and it goes BOOM !! Bye !
Spoiler : !!
how many of you found the sorrows corpse at the first mission ?
I wonderd what that was and the later part of the game made it quite lovely really.

Its true that you can kill The End at the warehouse, i've already tried this. All you need is a sniper rifle, then you kill the Guy that push The End. After you kill him, you shoot The End repeatedly until he's dead.Use this trick if you don't want to fight the End but you won't get Mosin nagant(Tranquilizer Sniper rifle) from him,You won't get Moss camouflage(the best camouflage ever!)from him and you will have to fight against Ocelot unit at the area where you fight the End(they are much tougher than The End, they normally hide behind trees and bushes and most of them have american lightmachine gun and shotgun.I only see 2 of them are equipped with sniper rifle).
Btw, Welcome to PK =3

Yeah I agree with there being something missing from metal gear 3. Although I didnt make it very far into the game being my main issue was the camera. It worked great in the first 2 because of the setting. The jungle setting just didnt work for me with this camera, frustrating getting shot at by guys off screen. Had good metal gear gameplay though but I just couldnt get into it :(
Hopefully ill get a ps2 back when they release metal gear 3 substance seeing how they have added online and a free camera mode, WOOT!

Hold him up?
The Bran Eating Zombie

Yeah, you have to sneak up on him while he's asleep, then when you're right behind him, you point your gun at him, and he lays down, then you point the gun at his head repeatedly, never putting it away, until he drops it. Then if you kill him by stamina killing him, you get his rifle. If you didn't do that, go back and do so.
Also, I never had a problem with the camera for mgs3, I thought they did a really good job on it, you could move it around you, and you could switch to first person when you needed too, which was easy, otherwise it was great for anything you have to do. You just need to sneak more, because people can see you through the jungle. It makes perfect sence. I loved the sneaking around the jungle parts, I wish that there was more of them in the game.
I also don't agree that there was anything missing. It is the best Metal Gear game by far.

Its probably because its a completely different setting, comparing indoors with semi outdoors, vs. Outdoors with semi indoors changes your tactics quite a bit.
If you choose "I like MGS" your stamina drains slower then normal, so its better to choose this option.

I think the stalth thing wasnt as good in MGS3. I need the radar and the sneaking and holding them up.
Dont get me wrong, i really like this game

I thought it was cool getting rid of the radar, you had to use a combination of all your gadgets to determine where the soldiers were, it was cool.
Although I enjoyed the change to outdoors after the tight setting of the first two (Solid games), the jungle still felt to me like conjoined rooms. The only places where it felt to me like outdoors was the battle against The End, the area leading up to that battle, and the last battle against The Boss. There were some other places that I can't think of right now.
The outdoor setting was a good change, I liked it anyway although as the legoman said it did feel like conjoined rooms. Still the best in the series.

You did have the sneaking and the holding up. You had it better then ever before.
Also, you had a radar, and a sonar. THey just drained batteries.

Yeah, but it didnt work anything like the others.
It dosent really detect people. Or tell you which way they are facing.

No, it just means you have to use more stealth.

And i'm not sure, but I don't think the military have invented satellites that detect your field of vision, mabey i'm wrong...

Yeah, but its a game. Maybe they have, i dont think they would tell everyone when Snake is going on secret mission to kill crazy people

I think it's simple technology... One would need to know a lot about human biology... but the calculation part wouldn't need fast computing; and like Mei Ling always says "Its all made from currently existing technology". ... so .. there..?

This thread kinda went downhill on the last few posts.
Iv not been playing it as much lately. I have to say that about a week or two ago i just got back into the art thing (which includes playing games for me) and the whole lifestyle is so relaxing.
Play PS2, draw some stuff.
Repeat.
Work feeling better and relaxed.
