What're your thoughts? I think it looks fun...but he should have done the hobbit first, lol.

eeeeh i have never been a fan of giant guerilla movies...but the graphics seem to be decent...they also had some interesting camera shots.

the fact peter jackson is directing is a little comforting...but im not sure even he could take away the gayness of king kong

looks pretty cool, but it's gonna be weird seeing Jack Black play a serious role, I'm not sure if his acting sucks when he's serious, or it's just different. But it's funny, the only serious role I saw Jack Black play was in the Jackal, and in that he was a bit of a joker, he died for it, rofl.

I think this is gonna be okay, anyone ever seen Heavenly Creatures? That film is fcuking amazing. If ya don't know, it's one of Jackson's earlier films and WETA did a really good job with the special effects. Check it out now!

As long as this movie is better than the remake of Godzilla I'll be able to rest in peace.

Well it sucks living here in NZ, seeing as Peter Jackson is a New Zealander u should see the stuff on the news. As soon as the trailer was allowed to be played here in NZ (i dont have sky so i only got 4 channels) i think all channels were playing the trailer. Bloody annoying if u ask me

**EDIT** oh yeah and it was on the front page of the newspaper the next morning.......

Hell, Godzilla vs. Monster Zero was better than the remake of Godzilla in 1998.

That's the one where even the American voice acters had the classically bad voice over timing and where Godzilla makes a stupid dancing move when he and Rodan defeat Monster Zero (King Ghidorah). Also, those Japanese guys dressed as aliens from Planet X!

Hey look its Godzilla vs. King Kong - it doesn't get any better than this
LETS DANCE!! ;)

Originally, King Kong was only 50 ft tall while Godzilla was 400 ft so they had to make King Kong a hell of a lot bigger.

The original of any movie, will of course, ALWAYS rank higher in my book. BUt if hte remakes are decently done - and don't stray to far from teh original in idea, morals, storyline, etc: then it will rock.

It's when Hollywood takes a perfectly good idea, tear it apart and SAY it's a remake (when in reality it more like "loosely inspired") that the movies become horrible.

True words of a movie critic. :D

I hope they do King Kong justice. There should be no excuse for it to be bad.

Just have to pop in and say something...

This movie will rock. Period. End of discussion.

The trailer is absolutely fantastic.

This, by the way, is a movie that Peter Jackson has wanted to make for a number of years now. Strangely, making LotR was a stepping stone towards making King Kong.

As long as they do it in just one movie, they don't walk and walk and walk and talk and talk and talk before they get to King Kong, and the ending is less than 45 mins, I'll see it! :D

Well, you HAVE to be a tolkein fan to like the LOTR movies.

You had to be a Tolkien fan to like the OLD movies. I know lots of people who had never even read the books and still loved Jackson's take on them.
As for King Kong, can't say I'm all that excited.

As long as it's (I'm not homophobic, I have gay friends) not as queer an ending as the last lord of the rings. I'm sorry, frodo in the bed, all those people walking in with creepy molestor smiles, and hobbits tousled in a bed. Ughhhh, gave me nightmares.

But it has Jack Black in it....c'mooooonnnnnn...it HAS to be good.

Hiltz

It just has to be good with Jack Black. I mean his performance in "The School of Rock" is academy award winning material. :sarcastic:

They could have just put a six inch man in a suit... then Godzilla could've stomped him before he got a chance to swim away. Can gorillas swim?

No you don't... everyone I know that's a Tolkein fan hated the LOTR movies. Peter Jackson put to much of his own thing into them. My friends hate the way some thing were changed, and Tolkein left some questions playing on your mind after you read the books. I'm not messing with you here but in the books there are strong hints that Legolas is female. Mr PJ just decided who cares lets just stick Orlando Bloom in then even if the movies suck at least we'll have women buying them.

And I'm going to say it again... PLEASE let them kill Jamie Bell, preferably in some embaressing way.

Strong hints that Legolas was a female?

I liked the movie adaptation. Some things were changed because it just would not fit well on the screen, and other things were changed because they were kinda boring in the first place (and so they walked, and walked, and came across a river, and continued to walk...)

FreneticZombie

They were good movies! Alright, they changed them from the books. BUt when has hollywood ever NOT changed the movie from the book? I can think of, perhaps, 2 movies that i personally have seen. And that was only because the author also wrote the screenplay.

I liked Jack Black in School of Rock. That was an amusing film.

I'm not messing with you here but in the books there are strong hints that Legolas is female.

Hmm, and I'm wondering what you were smoking when you came up with that idea.

Most of the people I know who disliked Jackson's take on LotR when Fellowship came out, eventually started to like them more and more as time went on, partially because it became clear why some things were changed or left out.

Sure, I know a few uber-purists who still have issues with the films, but they're an extreme minority. The films may differ from the books but they get the spirit of them most of the time, which probably works better than getting the letter of them.

Yeh! like my pastor, who still grumbles under his breath whenever someone brings up the movies. ^-~

Purists are stupid. If the movie was the exact same as the book there wouldn't be any suprise or tension.

I don't smoke anything... and it was a university lecture that gave me that idea. Personally I couldn't be arsed with tolkein. The lecture was regarding women and such and apparently tolkein didn't respect women one bit. The lecture went on to point out how he had original intended certain characters to be female then made them into kinda gay blokes instead, only keeping the romatic plot line orientated females as females to not get jumped on by the homophobic masses at that period in time. It is written fact not something I pulled out of my arse, but since it's not really common knowledge you can ignore it if you wish and go about your little existance. Do not accuse me of smoking anything...
