Hey,
Recently I've been downloading anime directly off of the internet. I've heard "bittorrent" is a lot easier to use, though. Could anyone give me some info on bittorrents? What do they do to your computer, and what do you need to use them?

6) No warez. No warez, cracks, hacks or illegal stuff.

I've been burned for this before, it wasn't fun. If you want info on it just use google.

You make a good point Onwakariudo, but Bittorrent is neither warez, nor a crack, nor a hack. Also it is legal. At least where I live it is.

Bittorrent is a program that reads 'tracker' files (usually with the .torrent extension) and checks for other users downloading or seeding the same file, then it facilitates the transfer of the file between clients.

To download a file using bittorrent, first you have to find yourself a good client. The standard one off the bittorrent website works fine, but many people prefer Azurus or Bittornado. Once you have installed the client, find a website that's hosting the trackers you want (that's the hard part) and click the link. It should do the rest itself.

Just be sure you have a legal right to download anything you choose to download with bittorrent . . .

I think the Polykarbon Moderators have made it clear in the past that they disapprove of us displaying links to download anime that is licensed. If anyone treasures their forum membership then they won't display or talk about anything relating to downloading of anime unless you contact the Mods and see what they have to say about it first before you proceed.

Hiltz & Naota.... did you not read FF's post?

I read it.

I was just giving a head's up notice since Naota specifically wanted to download anime and it may have eventually lead to the posting of such intolerabe links. Also, I wasn't fully sure if the Mods don't even accept the discussion of means and workings of such downloading sources like bittorent anymore. (I made the correction of tolerable links to unlicensed anime).

If the Mods give a hoot then they'll drop on by,otherwise life can go on. :)

To be honest, we're working out what our official stance is on these topics in the mod's lounge. For now, let's let this go, but we'll get back to you when we've ironed things out.
