Help With School Paper

I'm doing a comparison/contrast paper for AP English and my topics are American and Japanese comics and i need some more good differences and similarities. I already have most of what i need but i feel like i need more especially on the differences between the art styles and I'm fairly new to this so please help if you can.

It's hard to make the subject so broad because it depends on the inividual artist. In general :

Japanese Styles : Pointy chins, larger eyes, small mouths, spikey hair, plastic bodies.

American Styles : Broader chins, smaller eyes, average-larger mouths, smooth hair, muscular bodies.

Those are some of the major contrasts I've noticed.. - in general -. There are artists from both cultures that draw completely different from those points.

Just a little idea I thought of in about 5 seconds, American artists dont seem to draw chibi or exagurated figures very often. In Japan, it seems very common.

But dont take my word for it, I'm fairly new to art.

a lot of manga uses B&W screentones while most american comics color the pages digitally. Ive never seen american comics attempt screentones

Yeah I know that it is kinda broad by my teacher dosn't know squat about it and this is the only thing i felt like writing about, and thanks for the contrasts and of course i'll mention in my paper that styles vary but these are just some core differences that I'd like to point out.

mangas start at the back ( from a western perspective ), and you read left and down on the page, the opposite way to American comics
