Wow Billov--this is super entertaining! the random sketches are pretty sweet, but the finished digitals are cool too. For the smoker: you chose a difficult angle from below, and let me tell you from photos I took of myself out of curiosity I learned that someone's face looks completely different at that angle than it does straight-on--it's not just perspective, and it's difficult! You did this pretty well however, except for the eyes still looking a bit immune to perspective, and the hairline seems less integrated with the forehead than it should. These are only nitpicks though, 'cause I really like that piece. Your more recent digital art looks unique and interesting in terms of color and subject. No, it really does!

In terms of the college stuff in the first post...by all means try a course if you're interested, but you might find that model making is too much of a mathematical/3D imaging mental grind, and wish you could see and touch your creations. I've sampled a few art institutions and none of them force you to stay in one major/path if you want to try something else, though, so it shouldn't be a problem. Someone that showed me around my most recent place said she went in majoring in graphic design, and graduated with a degree in fibers instead. At any rate, the good thing about art school is anything you learn can really help you with anything else you're learning.
Also, it's hard to get a job anywhere now, so don't let that influence your course decisions. Sometimes industrial design is cool because you get to make stuff that someone can use in their life, as opposed to art that merely entertains or sits in a gallery. At any rate, keep updating this sketchy! I like it a lot.

Cheers Az and Izanaki, I'll try update this "moar" frequently

Tangerine: I fully agree about the smokers face. I remember I was really dissillusioned when I noticed how difficult faces were to draw, especially once you change the angle slightly. But I guess thats why I tackled faces so much. If you have a weakness, always step up to the challenge... its the only way to improve.
Thanks for the kind words about my digital stuff, I'm still learning lots.

Actually I've just started the Model Making course last week. I'm happy with my choice, its a very nice college and full of interesting people. Its small too, so its more of a closely knit community.
My course actually isn't all about 3D design. Its actually a lot more focused on the "hands-on" approach. Using materials and learning lots of techniques. I'd say maybe less than 20% of the course is computer based design. I've always thought of CG and 3D to be a skill that can be learned in the comfort of your home :P Which means... I really need a nice laptop.
Cheers for the advise :O

Haha! A skill that can be learned in the comfort of your home, huh?

...

That motivates me to learn a thing or two about it to make Oblivion mods. (Gosh I'm so tired of all the female armor mods out there which are little more than leather/chainmail bikinis!! @.@ I want some Gothic plate, dammit!!)

Anyway, great to see you updating. xD Love the digi dumps!!!

I said I'd update this over the weekend..... shit happened, and I'm a little busy tonight to have everything up. So I'm just gonna poop the digital stuff up here. And hopefully will have all my traditional stuff scanned tomorrow.
btw.... Aphex Twin (aka richard d james) has a TANK!

AND a submarine ._.
No joke.

Digitalzzz

This one was directly reffed from a photo, besides the background obviously.

The rest are mainly speedpaints with no direct reference other than wots in me head.

and... some of my models from monster college

a product design, made from card paper. Its a helmet based off a cockroach type insect. Heres the thread http://www.polykarbonbbs.com/showthread.php?t=24834

This is the second model as part of my insect and crustacean project.

Its plasticine over a wire frame... I'll probably make a thread for this one too, once I get all the design sketches scanned up tomorrow.

I'm really having fun with this model making course. Seem to be doing something different every week

Thanks effin! I like taking insults as compliments.

PM me if you want to start a SE. The one with OhHenry is a bit slow... and to be honest I'd prefer to just fire a bunch of halfassed scribbles across. More fun that way.

Astrapho (if you're out there) I haven't forgotten about our SE :P
I just have to put aside some time to draw nekkid peoples. My mom isn't hugely uptight... but my PC is in the front room :S

OHSHIT i just remembered. I've got life drawing tomorrow. Joined the life drawing society at college... the one society I didn't just join for the sweets!

Enuff waffles >:O

Traditionalzz

poopz V_V

I ran out of paper.... and errr... had to "recycle"

rest is college stuff. I'll try do more of my own sketches... I promise

the one in the middle is the one I based my model on

some designs for an architectural model

two sketches I did from photos of some dublin buildings... sort of spliced together :/

I'll have photos of the finished models up by the end of the week.

Yay update finally!!! Smackin' sketches! Love your shit. No, really.

Can't wait for that model to get completed. Looks like a complex little project. Well, keep it up and updated. I'm watching.

5 day weekend = GETTING PISSED AND DANCING TO ACID FOR 7 HOURS STRAIGHT + some art :P

Oh these are already up here... sorry for spamming them around so much. I kinda want to keep it all in my sketchbook though. Or at least the finished versions...
Digipaints

and this... don't ask what this is supposed to mean.
I watched the Elephant Man again and its now probably my favourite movie

Tradishwashional :O
my first shot at life drawing, with charcoal pencils... I need practice

and a big load of posemaniacs I did today out of boredom and exhaustion.

Danke Prof

I think you can really learn a LOT from doing posemaniacs a couple of times a week. Especially if you already have a basic grasp on anatomy.

It's funny how you always do something fancy when you're writing the time allowed per pose. (Except 2nd paper :/)

I love everything in that last post, awesome stuff :P

Oh almost forgot about that.
I have two finished insect models, one plasticine and one paper maché on chicken wire. Also a couple of architecture models..
I'll make a thread in the finished art section now.

Come to think about it... I don't really play much games anymore, I just watch lots of movies and draw/paint in my free time. Weekends are NOT free time btw... thats my getting pissed time

MOAR SKIRBLEZ

We're starting some life sculpting. Just making this guys head in clay. Man I never knew creating unlimited faces with clay could be so hilarious. Took me about an hour to calm down and actually make his face >_>
Had to take accurate measurements to get the scale right.

updated the pics (fixed her missing hairs)

Might actually use this style for something sometime. Its chibi-ish I know... but I want to keep it as realistic and filthy looking as I can.

mid-lecture-boredomkill

a bit of subtle rearrangement in this one.

More pork skratchings...
mostly from reference.

These are some doodles I did while watching Metropolis. Its a 1920's silent film... but its an absolute masterpiece. Probably up there with my top films. The Maschinenmensch is feckin cool
its crazy, it cost $2 million back in the 20's and had a cast of around 37,000 o_o

some sketching from reference
