I already see improvement asfter 2 weeks of using pen. You will master it eventually! believe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and nice job on the VD stuff. Though I have to say, avoid putting in the same pic more than once, even if it line to value to color, because it makes you seem too attached to your art. some art directors shy away from that becasue they need someone that won't be too in love with their own ideas. For these I think it'll be ok, becasue it shows process, and art directors love to see you have a brain. Just not too much.

Yeah, so you're like one of the best artist I've ever seen, but can you juggle? Just kidding, but seriously I felt great right before I came to your sketchbook. Now I know, the road is long. Inspirational stuff. Carry on.

Gah. I love the Visual Development drawings the best. So you use them to make individual characters..Right? Why do you draw so many figures? Does doing that help you get a polished character out? And why do you draw them so small?

srylik: thanks

AznPB: lol, of course i don't mind.

klaavier: I try to practice figure drawing lots

vyn: scenery? lol, actually i don't do many environments, which i should, i feel as if i'm not very strong in that aspect though ;_;

Aruthuran: I do lots of thumbnails cause chances are the first few are crap, and i try to get out of my system what "pre-conceived' notions i have of the character. When I know I what i want the character to look like, it tends to come out cliched and not very good as a character design, so i try and widen as many aspects as i can of the character, focusing on interesting shape and graphic design and gesture to create a character. It's best when happy mistakes happen and you think of something that you wouldn't have, that just makes your design better I draw them small for time issues, the faster i can crank them out, the more ideas i can go through, saving time later for finalizing the character.

wow! This is amazing. My favorite is your story board. You did a lot of render it's really tight. Just one question, do you think about where the word ballon would go on your thumbnail? I like the tatoo on the samurai girl arm on your last sketch. But it would be a pain in the neck to ink and color that. I can tell.

Anyways your work is awesome it would take me a couple light years to catch up to you.

I noticed that when you work with the thumbnails, you mostly color them black. So do you already have a clear idea in you mind of what you want your thumbnail character to look like (in terms of texture and color) ? or is color and texture for a different time? Do you just use that to think about shape and fluency? If so, then don't you need to work with face and expression? I'm asking because I've never really seen your style of visual development before.

So you and Jingo are what at school together, related, part of the same uber-art-hive-mind? Your styles have many similarities, which trust me is meant as a compliment to both of you

itsumoanime2: what word balloon... hum?

Aruthuruan: I do that so I can concentrate on the shape design, and not whatever decorative elements i add later Shapes give the first read of things, like triangles convey a sense of danger and sharpness, round things convey comfort and almost a sense of happiness and such. Then after I get the shape, I work on facial expressions that go with the character and such.

mandelak & M3_freak: thanks we're... actually... sisters >_> and go to... the same... school... LOL
