mwuahahaha some fool started a thread to talk about what we're already talking about lol
I want a random theme for no particular holiday... holiday themes are boring and it's all ways the same. Christmas = Skimpily dressed lady with santa hat on. Halloween = Skimpily dressed lady just killed some one or something. Easter = Skimpily dressed lady with bunny ears. The recent valentines contest had less skimpily dressed ladies than I've ever seen in a contest so I guess imaginations are broadening still I want no holiday theme

You say you got something against skimpily dressed lady with bunny ears?!
You're weird, my North-east England located friend, you're weird...

I can understand your ponit about no holiday theme, but won't it just turn out as an art drill? An art drill with prize? Hm, well, maybe if you choose a good and not completly random theme, it would work out.

The art drills all seem a little restricting. Contest leave room for more creativity, the art drills seem more like "draw this!"

I have nothing against skimpily dressed ladies in any situation... providing it's not my mum.

I don't think that the restrictions the art drills present is a bad thing. Sometimes their very specific, other times theyre vague. I think it's good practice drawing something you normally wouldnt consider or try. It is a drill after all--an exercise of sorts.

And concerning skimpily clad chicks, I do have something against them seeing as it is an incredibly jaded idea.

You know, the ancient Chinese and Japanese culures highly valued jade. I think we can learn something from them.

...

jade is one of my favorite colors, lol. I don't mean the color, I mean:

Quote:
jad·ed Audio pronunciation of "jaded" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (jdd)
adj.

1. Worn out; wearied: “My father's words had left me jaded and depressed” (William Styron).
2. Dulled by surfeit; sated: “the sickeningly sweet life of the amoral, jaded, bored upper classes” (John Simon).

Yes, therefore, new this spring... Hotter than ever!... Wet wooly sweater contest! ^^

Oh, and another good quote with 'jaded': "If thou fill thy brain with Boston and New York, with fashion and covetousness, and wilt stimulate thy jaded senses with wine and French coffee, thou shalt find no radiance of wisdom in the lonely waste of the pinewoods." (R. W. Emerson)

If you want to go polar opposite, that's your business. I just think creativity is lacking whenever I see pics of chicks showing their skin for no apparent reason.

And nope, I'm not Danish, so that joke did go over my head completely, lol.

Off course, it's a lack of creativity. But it sells.
And you've seen for yourself that judges doesn't always keep objective enough to see past the half-naked girl pics in draw contests.

It's a fact of life, wherever there are males, there will be an attraction to scantily clad women either real or not...

...unless you're in a gay bar.

I'm not talking about the almighty dollar, I'm talking about creativity and originality, which also can sell, although it takes a bit more effort and thought. The way you people sound, the only way to make something successful is to stick large boobs on it.

We should be car designers, that'd look hilarious ^^

(to be perfectly honest though, I think I've only stuck big boobs on a drawing once, and that was for comic effect... just don't care that much about success I guess :P )

lol this has gone a bit overboard :P I have nothing against the art drills as an exercise and although I like boobs to an extent (I'm am a bloke after all) I also feel that it's something that happens way to often. There should be a rule demanding no skantily clad women every now and again to provoke more creativity or originality :P I don't feel very comfortable drawing boobs so I feel that I'm at a dissadvantage when others draw them...
hehe that'll fool them... they'll over look my lack of talent and blame the lack of boobs.
