I think there should always be a colab category in all the competitions. like doubles and singles tennis.

I think an Epic Scene contest would be cool.

Basically a Scene in which if it was part of the book would be shocking to both the reader and the characters in the context. Just a thought.

Perhaps illustrating a famous passage from a novel or novella, or even poem. Either submitters post a passage that they choose or the contest starter selects a few well known passages. i.e. Hamlet with Yorick's skull, etc.

That would actually be very awesome. A lot to choose from and allows the artist to display the personal emotional impact of the passage.

*Votes for ssjmvegita's idea*

I'll eh... third, Ssjmvegita's idea, though, if it's up to every person picking their own, that might be troublesome for those who don't read a lot.

Well if anything it will encourage people to pick up these novel, epics, and poems and read them.

Heck, I wouldn't even mind if they were slightly more obscure books, just as long as they're available on B&N or Amazon or something... unless the theme was "classics", in which case a list like this would be useful.

well, this just an idea that I have participated on many occasions in other forums before! The one Making the contest, start out by writing a small paragraph, then all entrants are to draw, model, paint, etc what the outcome of the paragraph was about! This leaves tremendous latitude for many interpretations!

I love the idea.

I also thought that a good idea for a contest is to "Paint something that could never happen"

I vote ssjmvegita's idea, although I would want to choose the book.

Gene splicing.

The contest starter would show two of their favorite characters from drawings here on PK or any other visual media and the contestants would try there best to draw the result of those two characters "mating".

Like these photos. The hippo-crab is my favorite.

There's lots of great ideas here. WHEN IS OUR NEW CONTEST GOING TO START?????

Anything that is challenging and leaves a big window of ideas. Like, "I am not who I say I am."

I like the make over idea. The only problem with that I wonder is whether people would vote for a more drastic make over of a character.

I am a big fan of recreating a fairytale

shapes contest

you're only allowed to compose an image using one shape/object, or use a certain amount of colours etc. something that will will restrict people without restricting artistic liberties.
