I'm still here from time to time but I've not been drawing much recently. I focused more on my college work so my own stuff has kind of fallen by the wayside. What's worse is that the two years I focused on art and design qualifications were almost completely wasted since the portfolio I built up was sent off for evaluation and I never got it back. Since then I've been doing music but I had to skip a year and then I got dropped from the course before Christmas because of injuries. Least the online 3D modeling course I'm on doesn't have an attendance threshold. I need to get back to the drawing so I can model them so yeah. Guess I gotta get back in the art routine.

Ya'll think about starting a discord group chat thing though? I feel like the community here is small enough that it'd probably work out and I believe it's free.

How about a Facebook group? I'm friends with Ast, RobotCat, and Muzz on there, but I've no experience with groups, much less art-critique groups. However, I think it has potential. Probably easier to attract more people that way, too.

A Discord could be fun. I've just joined one in relation to a bunch of game dev stuff I'm involved in and it seems useful. I'd be down for joining, and I intend to crack open Discord every time I'm at my computer.

I second the discord. I'm actually in 2 different art discords right now and the way its designed makes it easy to keep participation high compared to social media sites.

Like, my facebook is actually on a separate account that I only log in to post new art updates with, frankly I might just scrap it in the future and use twitter instead (since that's where all the Japanese artists are on).

This thread was a melancholy trip down memory lane.

I have incredibly fond memories of this place. Currently writing up my PhD, lecturing part-time in computer science while I get my business going building software.

I miss this place sooo much! I've been wanting to post something here for awhile but wasn't sure if my account was even still active lol. I came across a "Battle Chasers" video game to be released next month, it was my favorite comic book and the nostalgia hit hard which led me back here. I joined in the late 90s when forums were hosted on an even older platform. This place was home to me through out my teens are early 20s. Back then I was considered a nerd for loving Ghost in the Shell, now the hottest actress in Hollywood is staring in the movie haha. I've grown into a boring, lifeless 33 year old that doesn't use social media so when message boards died, a little part of me died as well. The good times of chatting about art, anime, videogames and even playing Counter-Strike with members here were the best! I'm sending good vibes to Poly, Alucard, Dogfuchow, Moodring and everyone else but especially to Shou! The triphop you turned me onto over a decade ago, I still listen to today. Im "Madpower" on xbox live and psn if anyone wants their tail kicked in Tekken or Street Fighter

I can't believe that last post was in 2017 in this thread. I feel like I spent a lot of time on these boards in the hopes of becoming a better artist but from what I remember I spent most of my time on the General Discussions. Basically searched up "how to draw anime style" around 2005 and discovered this place. I remember my first few posts here and I am cringing so hard at my comments, I sure clueless and a prick. I'm thankful for the older members not being too harsh on me. Thanks ya'll.

I guess when this place died down is when message boards died out. Things change. I myself haven't really drawn in terms of improving or past a doodle since 2009. Still enjoy anime, just not as indulgent as I was in 2005. Even though I moved onto other hobbies and career paths I still return to this place to see what's happening. It's a bittersweet feeling to find this place still operating but as a shell of it's former self. I can't believe how busy this place used to be and I think the Lirpa-Chan fiasco highlighted that for me.

I hope this place never dies, I truly do have lot of good memories associated with this place.
