Default Zombie Hood - First Page Contains All Comics - 56k Beware!

Ok so finally we are getting on track with an online comic. This one involves the social acceptance of zombies as equals. A group of friends (me and my friends of course) move into a neighborhood of zombies. We have yet to get the site completely finished, so if anyone knows any good web comic strips feel free to email them to me. Otherwise enjoy. These first ones are more of story setup, and getting our "style" locked down, but I am interested in what you all think.

:EDIT: We're trying to keep this a 3 panel strip every other day, so the one below run one after the other, but there is space in between.

Yeah, Justins pretty much writing this story arch, after that it is open for whoever can come up with some good ideas. At least you thought it was funny, and don't worry, your next part is gonna be pretty awesome.

Not to try to bring you guys down or anything, but I didn't find it that funny. Actually, not funny at all. The only one that seems to have a punchline is the 2nd one. Otherwise, there jokes are hard to find or scattered.

No prob man. That is exactly what I am looking for. Of course we're not expecting everyone to find it funny. Right now it's getting the process and down and style. What do you think would make it funny? I agree the "punchlines" are kind of scattered, but again this is a certain story arc, some punchlines are meant to carry over to the next strip. Are you more of a physical humor kind of guy? Or do you like the whitty comments?

Nice try...that scene has been used so much, it has lost its humor.

Gotta have more action =p

Sweet, I just thought I would also throw in the banner for the site, once we get it working.

Because I hate you ... actually I am going to be having alternating banners with different peeps. That, and I forgot to add you right there in the front.

I wanted you to be saying "There goes the neighborhood!"

I meant to crit this the other day, but I forgot or something...so here I go.

I also agree that it isn't the funniest strip, but there are a lot of things present that lead me to believe it is due to a certain amount of unexplained inside jokes. I guess we had to be there.

For instance, when I read the first line of the third strip, I thought there was a typo before realizing that 'tons of fun' was supposed to be what I believe to be Hanzo's character's nickname. I had to do a bit of speculative guessing before I could understand what was being said. And even when we first see Hanzo, we had no idea he was even a part of the strip...where the hell did he come from? Why is he absent from the rest of the strip, and indeed, the banner as well? (just kidding on that last bit, )

Anyway, I would say tweak these, but also add more strips in between to flesh the characters and situation out some more. I take it that the characters are supposed to have recently moved into the neighborhood, you missed out on a lot of potential comedy as the realtor attempts to sell them the house.

You need to slow it down as well, the cast being invited to, attending and eating the BBQ take place in three frames. We are used to seeing something paced more like this: 1) Get the invite. 2) 'Hey, we got invited to a BBQ...etc' 3) Punchline or something is delivered from another character, or something else funny happens. And then the next strip could pick up from the BBQ. I like the Robotman/Monty setup where each week was a self contained arc (sundays were standalones in color). They could have running gags and set up more complicated situations than most other strips. I loved me some Robotman.

I think it's really funny even though I'm not part of the inside jokes. I also think that one of the charms of it is that there are many jokes which are made with art... not just dialog. For example- "tink tink" on the window... that's funny... it's like a zombie with restraint and patience... tapping gently on a window... that's funny even if it's not like stand up comedy with a punchline. The barbecue zombie waving hello- also funny! ZZ top beards to show passing of time... visual humor- love it!

Yeah, there might be some inside jokes, but your visuals are excellent...
