Default VC Sketchbook - (3/17/2011)

So I guess I should start one of these ... Sure. Dunno how often I'll be updating however, stay tuned folks, they could be many and they could be sparse.

Valcron, my main guy, and the one I shall protect with every fiber of my being.

Another guy, don't care for him so much, but he's cool looking I guess.

Heidi, not much to say about her really. I guess I should just post images instead of talk about them, because your just here to see images huh?

Dreatos, the main baddy ... Fancy crotchplate? Probably.

Some quick stuff now!

This next one is a school project, hence it's text.

It's all tiny because photobucket can't take big images.

Some other things!

Yeah, more to come soon. I really wish I had time to finish the last two :(.

Okay so. I love your colouring and your lines, but you need to work on anatomy for sure. You draw things kind of chunky.

Especially the hands you draw.

Chunky huh? I'll see what I can do, but you must note that many of my drawings come in heavily clad armor, which is bound to be chunky :P. I know some of my own anatomical problems, but if it's chunky, it's probably bound in heavy armor.

Sidenote: I learn this myself! If you want a fancy background, don't draw your foreward drawing fully first, it wears you out too much to do the background! Next time, I do a background worthy of the drawing, hopefully anyway.

More of my lineart, I do love it so, but it lacks something I say. Perhaps interest? Suggestions, they are so nice!

An update on that robit from the original post!

Yeah I forgot to reveal the rest of the body when I saved it, and by that time, I had to switch computers, so no body this time.

More to come soon! Moar moar moar!

Some nice work here

You have some great ideas in your people sketches, they just lack a strong foundation in figure drawing. Drawing people in life or nude studies can help you understand more the way people move and pose naturally. I like your lines, the look articulated and thought out, with correct overlaps. Maybe you aren't even thinking about them bu they work well.

As for coloring, I can't give you much help, it starts as a very intuitive thing, and then to build on it you need to practice. The best way I know how to practice color is to do landscape paintings.... but that's not always feasible. Another idea is that when you're picking your colors, think about values first. do more grayscale paintings to really nail your values through contrast, and the colors are secondary.

Huge improvement since i last saw your work dude!

One big tip for you, stop working on a digital painting bit by bit! You are just going to end up with a very segmented piece at the end that took 3 times longer than it should have to make. Try and build up the whole thing at the same time, as in build up detail level as a whole.
Trust me it will save your sanity.

Also try not to use that pure black in the shadows of the robot.

Thanks for the comments guys , they always mean a lot.

Real life huh? I've always meant to do so, but I get busy with other things and forget D:, I'll try to find time to do so though. Thanks for the suggestion.

Muzzoid, you are probably right because the one that looks like the giant robot's in a lava cave is about to drive me out of my mind of how long it's taking. Plus, I never used pure black? Though I do often go to values that are near black. I forget, those two, aside from the update, are kind of old, so I can't remember if I DID use black. I have horrible memory : (.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, your comments are what fuel me on.

(Cheesy I know.)

Holy crud I'm alive :O

I deserve like, 5 awards now.

The last one was supposed to be an April Fools joke D:

Sadly, I didn't get it done IN TIME for April Fools. Supposedly that is my character, Valcron himself, as the opposite sex. I was going to parade around on the 1st claiming that it was a permenant change. That failed. Plus my anatomy and some coloring might have failed too, I feel there's more flaws than I can count, but can't see on here.

Oh well, hooray hand practice! My hand aches now though.

Edit: I can't see the last image on my screen? Can anyone see a redhead green shirt gal for the last image on this post? I hope so, because I have the URL right and tags correct.

Double Edit: Going to 2nd post for it, Photobucket won't let me post all three apparently >:O.

THERE! Sorry for double post.

Remember, the hands are in a thick rubber coating, as Valcron shoots lightning. Though I should make them a LITTLE more form fitting as to give more detail. Oh well!

Been kinda busy lately, not much drawing been done.

The concept rocks, that shield is awesome. I like the pose too, feels pretty dynamic with the cloth.

Thanks m3, here's the final ink without style tweaks. This is taking so long to ink, and I'm still not done with detail.

Heck yeah!

Phew o_o!

EDIT: Changed a lot of them but the biggest drawings to IMG tags, hope that helps, I just figured though with the sheer number of them in one update, it'd be easier just to have them in link form. Guess I was wrong :< onoooo.

A couple images I made over the past couple of days. I like that Space Marine (No specific army for those who play the game D: ), I might ink it sometime. No telling.

Also the first one is a background for 1280x800 screen users. It's for the new laptop we have in the house I intend to claim.

That's it for now!

Indeed the lines are nice, but a bit of width variation wouldn't go amiss. I found that in the last image you posted (the one of the knight with the Lion armor) its quite hard to see whats going on.

Changed MOST of them to IMG tags, all except those three in the middle of my 2nd to last post, simply because they're a bit huge.

Thanks fshoo`.

Parody Works: Width Variation eh? I'll try my best, but I'm quite limited to what I can do (Especially with such a huge drawing) on my poor laptop. 400MHz, 169MB of RAM and an extra huge 10GB of HD space are all I have to get me through these drawings.

Again I'll see what I can do , I don't make promises though. Knight Lion guy was fun to draw, but I've already got other ideas planned, we'll see.

Thanks for the comments guys.
